rahmatullahi alayh

  1. To claim courage (bahãduri) is easy, however to remain courageous (bahãdur) at the appropriate time is difficult.
  2. If I could locate anger anywhere, I would slaughter it, for it has wrought destruction amongst people. This implies the need to create the habit of swallowing and controlling anger.
  3. Whomsoever is not haleem (forbearing) is disgraced. Time and again he suffers ignominy.
  4. To ‘become’ big and to be ‘made’ big is vastly different.
  5. Upon the teacher it is an incumbent facet of tuition (tãleem) to train (tarbiyyah) with affection (shafqat). However, in this day and age this is often neglected.

  7. The residences of doctors are increasing whilst the illnesses of their patients remain where they were, because there is a marked absence of compassion (hamdardee).
  8. In this era, many huffaz and scholars are found, however a true gentleman is very rare, by this is implied a person imbued with the etiquettes of muasharrat (Islãmic social behaviour).
  9. Nowadays, even ladies have become very enthusiastic about travelling whereas it is an ill. It is impermissible for ladies to make a Sharee’ journey without a mahram.
  10. The promise of Muslim leadership on the earth (istikhlaf fil ardh) would become complete if our iman became perfect and firmness was established upon ã‘mãl sãleh (good deeds). The need is to make effort on iman and ã‘mãl.
  11. Nowadays there is abundance of mental aptitude (zehan) but a dearth of intelligence (‘aql), whereas the greater need is for ‘aql saleem (correct understa.nding).
  12. Nowadays, understanding and contemplation (ta‘ammuq) in ‘ilm is not inculcated, although awareness is acquired, i.e. superficial and surface ‘ilm remains.
  13. The desire is there to become a Shaykh, though the responsibilities are not understood; the desire is there to become a father, though the responsibilities are not understood; the desire is there to become a teacher, though the responsibilities are not understood. Why? Because true affection (shafqat) is absent.
  14. The age of working collectively (ijtima‘eeyat) no longer remains, therefore carry on doing whatever service (khidmat) one is able to undertake individually because obedience (ittã‘at) is almost non-existent.
  15. Wrongful assumption (bad ghuman) is a rampant disease to the extent that good estimation (husne zan) has almost vanished.
  16. If inquiry (tahqeeq) is made upon any event then the possibilities of disputing (niz‘ã) are very rare.
